The Princess at 7 Months
Brooke Reagan has passed the 7 month mark with flying colors. She's crawling all over the place, pulling up on anything in sight, cutting her first tooth, babbling like crazy, and eating some baby crackers. She has also thrown her wonderful sleeping habits completely out the window! The past two nights we have been up at least 4 times. We think it's a combination of being gone and out of routine for all the holiday travel, some separation anxiety, and the pain of teething. We are trying to let her cry it out but her blood curdling screams are unbearable--to us and probably to the neighbors. Also if she is in pain or afraid (she is often standing facing a wall in her crib) we don't want to leave her in that state. It's funny how you have lots of stickler ideas before you're a parent; you are going to do things this way or that way. But when you are really faced with the situation, things are a little different. There's not a black or white, wrong or right, easy answer. In the meantime, we're doing lots of praying, reading, and asking of advice on what to do. I know we will get it figured out soon, but there's always that little voice in my head that says if I give in to her now she'll be sleeping in our bed when she's 6. Haha.. anyway, advice is welcome from all you moms out there. We are looking forward to a wonderful 2008 and all the blessings God has in store for us. Happy New Year and God Bless!
I have had to eat my words on more than one occasion for saying "When I am a parents I will never...." or "My kids will never...." Layton sleeping habits have gotten worse every time we have traveled, every time he is around the grandparents (not their fault just a change in schedule), teethed, or was getting ready to hit a big milestone. You kind of just have to work through it. We would either pick Layton up until he calmed down and then put him back in his crib or just go calm Layton down while he was in his crib. It may take a few days for him to get back on track after your trip. ask your pediatrician about what they recommend for teething pain. I also would give Layton tylenol and or oragel if his teeth hurt from teething.
