Fun with KayeLeigh and the Balloon Festival

Jerid, Amanda, & KayeLeigh stopped by for a bit on their vacation. Brooke and KayeLeigh played pretty well together. They were cute pretending to nap!

We were able to make it to the 30th Annual Plano Balloon Festival even though David was working for a lot of the weekend. It was fun, but not something I would venture to do again with a two year-old and two 4 month-olds.

Brooke loved the balloons, so it was all worth it!

Sisters were such troopers.

4 Month Checkup

I am proud to say I made it through another appointment with the girls. After a few shots and a LOT of screaming, it was over. Phew!

The Numbers
Claire (big sis) who has always been slightly smaller than Keely since birth, has surpassed her sissy in the weight department, if just by a few ounces. Claire weighs 14 lbs 11 oz and is 24 inches long.

Keely (lil sis) weighs 14 lbs 7 oz and is 24 inches long.

What They're Doing
Their personalities are really starting to shine. As long as they are rested, fed, and feeling good, they are very happy babies. They "talk" to us and smile all the time. They are both very verbal! They continue to be somewhat high maintenance when the above mentioned requirements are not met, but we love our feisty girls!

Keely can roll from back to front. She does this all the time actually. As a result she ends up sleeping on her tummy at night. Claire, on the other hand, is pretty content to stay where we lay her. She was the first to roll from tummy to back and has done this a few times. Keely only rolls back to front; Claire only rolls front to back. Silly girls!

I am so pleased with their sleeping patterns lately. We have them in separate cribs now in their room. They both lay down without much fuss and drift off to sleep. For the most part they sleep long stretches, often all night. Woohoo! I am crossing my fingers this continues!

They both like to bunch up their lovies and blankets in front of their faces. They each still love their swings (thankfully)!! And of course they both love their big sister, who continues to be very sweet to them.

I am so thankful every day for the opportunity to be Mommy to these precious girls. I am really trying to savor my time with them while they are still so little, together and individually. I love them so much!

Two Cute!

...if I do say so myself! The twins are changing every day. I can't believe they are 4 months old! I will update later this week with their 4 month stats after they see the doctor. They each surpassed Brooke's 4 month stats at 3 months. Here are a couple of my latest fave's.

First Day of School

This week marked a huge milestone in Brooke's life... the beginning of her academic career!

As much as David and I excitedly talked about school, Brooke was not thrilled about beginning this next chapter in her life. Upon hearing our happy school talk, her response was usually "I don't WANT to go to school!" She wasn't in a bad mood or anything, it's just that when we mentioned it, she would say that. Picture a big bottom lip sticking out at this point. To add to the mix, she behaved horribly at Meet the Teacher night, but thankfully most of her tantrum throwing occurred in the hallways and not the classrooms.

Needless to say, I was pretty nervous about that first morning. The car ride was accompanied by a few made-up-silly-songs-about-big-girls-going-to-school, courtesy of Mommy. She was not moved.

To my great surprise, as we pulled up to the church building, Brooke yelled gleefully, "My school!" I knew we were going to be okay at that point.

After stumbling into the wrong classroom because Mommy was slow with the giant double stroller, Brooke finally made her way to Mrs. Michelle's class. She gravitated toward the center with the cars, and that was it. She was glad to be there in her new place of belonging, her first real classroom. I snapped a few pictures and said goodbye (Brooke didn't even look up when I left), and I left my preschooler for the day.
The day crept by. The twins were very very good; my day seemed so much easier, and I felt great about all the experiences Brooke would be having this year at school. By the time I picked her up, I was bracing myself for the day's report. Brooke is going through a "belligerent" stage, so I was kind of worried. Her teacher brought her out and gave Brooke a glowing report; she said Brooke had a great first day! Brooke was so happy, and this time our ride home was filled with a little girl's tales of school adventures (as much as a two year old can tell anyway). I have a feeling we will have less of a battle getting to school tomorrow morning.
This is going to be a fantastic year!
